Our Purpose

A groundbreaking collaboration initiative that enables value-added innovations in security and safety designed around real customer needs

The Open Security & Safety Alliance (OSSA® or the Alliance) is a non-profit, non-stock corporation that brings together like-minded organizations to create a framework outlining a common standardized platform for security and safety solutions that is accessible for everyone.

OSSA was formed in reaction to today's market situation. Security and safety solutions are fragmented and lack a common collaborative approach, which is holding back innovation, seamless integration and a more standardized approach to fundamental challenges in the market. These challenges include data security and the move to more data-centric solutions such as Software as a Service. The high number of proprietary systems makes the aggregation and practical use of data complex and challenging. Market players spent too much effort focusing on solving the challenge of how to make these proprietary systems compatible, which has a negative impact on investment in innovation and the development of new applications and business models. The Internet of Things continues to define today's landscape and the need for a common collaborative approach becomes increasingly necessary. Market players are competing on technical topics that aren't making a significant difference for customers.

Therefore, the market needs a new direction, a framework that will enable the industry to focus on innovations and developments that add real value for their customers. Based on our philosophy and vision on the market and industry, we've formed this as our primary objective.
